DEBBIE ARTHUR
Director
Ms. Debbie graduated with a BS in Human Development and Family Studies from UNC - Greensboro. She is married to Ken Arthur and they have 3 adult/college children who all graduated from HUM Preschool. Ms. Debbie worked for Campbell County as an assistant in preschool Special Ed. She was also Director of Client Services at the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center before deciding to stay at home with her children. She has been working at our preschool for 6 years, and she has served as a lead teacher, assistant teacher, and attendant in Lunch Bunch. Ms. Debbie has also taught adult Sunday School and preschool Sunday School at her church.
KELLY JACOBSON
Office Assistant
This is my first year at HUM working alongside the office staff and coordinating Lunch Bunch! I have come to HUM Preschool for 4 years as a parent. Now that my little ones are in elementary school, I am excited to return as staff. I can't wait to watch these precious children grow!

I have been a teacher at HUM Preschool since 2000. I am married with 2 children and 4 grandchildren. I love coming to work every day because each day is an adventure with a preschooler!

I have been at HUM Preschool for 21 years and have taught various age groups, while also doing music for 10+ years.
I was born and raised in Lynchburg then moved around being a Navy wife after which we settled back in Campbell County. I have been married 35 years and we have 2 sons. I love time with family and friends, hiking and travel.
EMILY ASHWORTH

Emily has a passion for early learning, especially enriching young minds through play and mindful experiences. Her experience not only consists of early childhood education (preschool) but also includes 3rd Grade and Special Education in both public and charter school environments. In her free time; Emily enjoys traveling, reading, and enjoying life with her husband, Daniel, and their two children, Pierson and Adelyn.

I have been with the preschool for 9 years as a teacher's assistant. I’ve been married for 24 years to Jeff and we have 3 sons. I was born in Madison, Wisconsin but have lived in Lynchburg for most of my life. I have been a member of Heritage UMC since 1997. I love to cook and spend time with my family. I love kids and have fun so I’m very blessed to be at the preschool.

Hello, I'm Miss Julie. I am so excited to be part of the HUM Preschool team! I'm a mother to 3 beautiful children; Ava, CJ, and Connor. And a wife of 12 years to my husband Chris. I love coffee, chocolate, and sunflowers. I can't wait to get to know your children and watch them grow!

Ms. Kara attended Liberty University for physical and health education but is on a break from school to see where God wants her. She recently married Garrett Rossi, who is finishing up at Liberty University. She is a cat mom to 2 cats, Moose and Teton. Ms. Kara has always enjoyed working with preschool kids and younger ones. She just recently got the position at HUMC as Youth Director. Last year, she worked at Lunch Bunch and substituted at the preschool.

Hi Preschool families! This is my first year teaching at HUM Preschool. However, I am not new to education. I taught K,1st, and 3rd grades at Bass Elementary School for 17 years. This will be my third year teaching preschool. I love children and look forward to the start of each school year with a new group of kids, families, and adventures! I have been married to my husband Gary for 24 years. We have 2 children, Casey and Hannah. In my spare time I love spending time with friends and family, watching movies, riding bikes, hiking, and traveling!

Hello, my name is Cam Gumpman. I have been a member of Heritage UMC for 35 years and both my daughters were in the first and second graduating classes of this preschool program. I grew to love this program even more when I had the privilege to have chapel with the children for the past 2 years. I had the opportunity to now work with these children and I took it!! I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for me!!!
